Benito in Cordite

Have a gander around the newly released Cordite # 28: Secret Cities, now with added Benito Di Fonzo... Just like a chocolate milkshake, only poetry... in particular, one I wrote in a bar in Roma one sultry July night...

Thanks Lee, glad you liked it.

I summited a few traveling poems to that edition and I must say I was surprised by the one they chose. It literally was something I'd scribbled in my notepad after a night at the Julius Caesar Bar.

Perhaps the other poems I submitted came across as too contrived and it was the honesty and spontenaity that got 'australians in rome' over the line.

You never know what other people are going to like. This reality can make performing poems particularly agonising the first time. I've had poems and plays I truly love that have got nowhere near the response of ones I think far less of, but in the end who can know what people will like - if someone did they could just come up with a ciomputer programme to do it.

This, I guess, is what people like about art - you can't come up with a mathematical formula in binary code for it and hence only humans can do it, and furthermore nobody knows when or why it does or doesn't work (critics aside.)

Anyway, thanks for dropping by...
